History
Economic development around the world is brought about by advances in science, engineering and technology. Engineering is the necessary link to convert science into useful technology. As such it plays a vital role in the development of a nation.

In recognition of this, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, in 1980, offered advanced courses in engineering to meet the needs of the Philippines in her efforts to achieve greater economic growth and stability. Initially, graduate engineering programs were offered in the University's Graduate College.

As the programs became well-known, and as enrolment increased, early in 1983 the programs were placed under the College of Engineering and Technology of the University. In September 1988, the graduate programs of Engineering was placed, along with the other graduate schools of the university, under a single graduate school of PLM. Subsequently it evolved into a separate Graduate School of Engineering of PLM.

Guided and inspired by the vision, we commit ourselves to:
1. Develop highly competent technology-and-industry-based professionals through quality education.
2. Produce ethical professionals through value-infused curricula and instruction.
3. Promote relevant, innovative research and extension services for the enrichment of academic scholarship and for nation building.
4. Develop and maintain a corps of competent, committed and ethical administrators, faculty and service personnel for the efficient and effective delivery of quality academic and administrative services.
5. Sustain mutually beneficial linkages with relevant institutions.
6. Engender goodwill and support of alumni, friends and agencies for a viable and sustainable graduate school.
