2018 September 05: PLM confers honorary degree on Anwar Ibrahim
Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, received on September 4, 2018 (Tuesday) the degree of Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. PLM cited Dato' Seri Ibrahim for his contributions to public service, international understanding, promotion of human welfare, and protection of human rights.

PLM Chairman Benjamin I. Espiritu and PLM President Ma. Leonora Vasquez-de Jesus led the ceremonies. Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada also graced the occasion as guest speaker. Also in attendance were members of the PLM Board of Regents, university officials, college deans, faculty members, and students. Among Dato' Seri Ibrahim's friends who came to witness his conferment were representatives from the Malaysian embassy, national government officials, former Philippine ambassadors to Malaysia, and Muslim leaders.
